Njegovan-Carruthers Finish with a Win and a 4-2 Record

Selena Njegovan and Reid Carruthers finsihed their round robin at the Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship with a 4-2 record after a late Monday 6-3 win over Chaelynn Kitz & Kyler Kleibrink. The 4-2 record may not be good enough to earn a playoff spot. Laura Walker & Kirk Muyres lead POOL C at 5-0 followed by Nancy Martin & Tyrell Griffith at 4-1. The two top teams face off tomorrow in their final game. As both have beaten Njegovan & Carruthers, no matter the result of the game both will finish ranked ahead of the Manitoba team.

MONDAY EVENING) Einarson-Gushue Win Fifth in Six Starts: Kerri Einarson & Brad Gushue needed an extra end and had to steal but posted a 7-6 victory over Quebec's Laurie St. Georges & Felix Asselin  to finish their round robin with a 5-1 record. The fives wins will earn them a berth in the playoff round along with POOL B winners Jennifer Jones & Brent Laing who have five wins with a game yet to play. Even with a loss, Jones/Laing will win POOL B as they defeated EINARSON/GUSHUE in the round robin meeting.

(MONDAY AFTERNOON) Karwacki/Samagalski and Birchard/Schneider Both Fall to 3-2: Manitoba champions Krysten Karwacki & Derek Samagalski and Shannon Birchard & Caitlin Schneider both lost Monday afternoon to drop their records to 3-2.  They meet in their final round robin game in the final round robin draw Tuesday afternoon so one of the two teams may still make the playoffs. This will, of course depend upon the results of other games. Currently Emma Miskew & Ryan Fry and Val Sweeting & Marc Kennedy share the lead in POOL D with 4-1 records and a game to play.
Karwacki/Samagalski and Birchard/Schneider both gave up five points across two ends in falling behind their opponents Monday. Sweeting/Kennedy took three then stole two on ends 4 and 5 enroute to their 7-3 win over Karwacki/Samagalski. Jones/Everist scored two and stole three on ends 2 and 3 enroute to their 9-5 win over Birchard/Schneider.

(MONDAY NOON DRAW) WALKER-MUYRES Advance to Playoffs With Win Over MEILLEUR-NICHOLLS: Laura Walker & Kirk Muyres improved their record to 5-0 with a 7-4 win over Briane Meilleur & Mark Nicholls on the Monday morning draw. At 2-3, Meilleur/Nicholls will not advance from POOL C. Kaitlyn & Connor Lawes continued their struggles, losing 8-5 to Newfoundland-Labrador champs Mackenzie Mitchell & Greg Smith who end the round robin at 4-2 and with a possible playoff opportunity. Lisa Weagle & John Epping lead POOL E at 4-1 with a game to play after their 9-4 victory over Northern Ontario champs Oye-Sem Won/Trevor Bonot.

(MONDAY MORNING) JONES-LAING Improve to 5-0, Advance to Playoffs: With a 5-0 record followig a morning win, 7-4 over Wasylkiw-Konings, Jennifer Jones & Brent Laing have assured themselves of advancing to the playoffs as winners of POOL B at the Home Hardware Mixed Doubles Championship. Jones/Laing still have a game to play but even with a loss they will finish ahead of Kerri Einarson & Brad Gushue thanks to a win over Einarson/Gushue earlier in the round-robin. 
In POOL A this morning, Kadriana Sahaidak & Colton Lott won again to improve to 4-1. They share the POOL A lead with Jocepyn Peterman & Brett Gallant with a 4-1 record after both won this morning. Peterman/Gallant have the edge due to their round robin win over Shaidak/Lott.
The POOL winners automatically advance to the playoffs. Seven more teams will advance based on having the best records a second place 5-1 record is a good bet to advance however 4-2 may not be good enough.
