by Canad Inns Release

Continuing in the spirit of partnership with the curling community, Canad Inns will once again bring the World Curling Tour to Manitoba with the Canad Inns Men’s Classic and the Canad Inns Women’s Classic, along with an exciting new Inaugural event.

For the sixth year running, Canad Inns will host the Canad Inns Men’s Classic October 16 – 19, 2015.   Later that week, the second annual Canad Inns Women’s Classic, October 22 – 25, 20145 will be held.  Both Classic events will take place at the Portage Curling Club, part of Canad Inns Destination Centre Portage la Prairie.

“Canad Inns is thrilled to partner with Curling Canada and Manitoba and World Champion Jeff Stoughton, and host the inaugural Canad Inns Mixed Doubles Classic,” said Paul Robson, CEO.  “Mixed Doubles curling will be a medal sport at the 2018 Winter Games.      Canad Inns is looking forward to adding this third Classic event and host top Canadian teams in Portage la Prairie.”

The Canad Inns Mixed Doubles Classic will be held between the Canad Inns Men’s Classic and the Canad Inns Women’s Classic, on October 20 – 21st.     We invite members of the Canadian men’s teams to stay after the Men’s Classic and members of the Canadian women’s teams to come before the Women’s Classic, to participate in this exciting new event.   Limited spots are still available in both the Men’s and Women’s Classics.

The Men’s and Women’s Classics will feature Olympic Gold Medal Champions – Team Jennifer Jones and Team Brad Jacobs – as well as top teams from across Manitoba, Canada and the world competing in each event for $ 60,000 in prize money.    Players participating in the new Canad Inns Mixed Doubles Classic will compete for $ 23,000 in prize money.

“Having Canad Inns step up and basically take a chance on a new Mixed Doubles event just proves again just how much they love the game of curling and how much they want to part of this growing game” said Jeff Stoughton, the Mixed Doubles Program Manager for Curling Canada. “With the prize money listed I know this will entice the top players to come out over 2 days and give Mixed Doubles a shot.”

Ice for the first-class events will be prepared by Greg Ewasko – an internationally recognized ice technician and water quality consultant who has Manitoba, Canadian, and World Curling Championships on his ice-making resume.

Draw times for the Canad Inns Men’s Classic and the Canad Inns Women’s Classic will be 10 am, 1:30 pm, 5 pm and 8:30 pm daily, with draws on the final day taking place at  10 am, 2pm and the Final at 6 pm.   Tickets for both events are available by contacting Trent Ward, General Manager of Canad Inns Destination Centre Portage la Prairie at 204-857-9745 or by email at [email protected]

Draw times for the Canad Inns Mixed Doubles Classic are tentatively set for 8:30 am, 11 am, 2:30 pm, 5 pm and 8:30 pm, depending on number of teams participating.  Admission will be free for the Inaugural event.
