Sigurdson Wins Chicken Chef Mixed Final

Bob Sigurdson-Granite Curling Club defeated Ray Baker-Dauphin 6-5 in ten ends in the final of the 2015 Chicken Chef Mixed Provincial Championship at the Gimli Curling Club. Team Sigurdson will have the opportunity to represent Manitoba at the 2016 Canadian Mixed Championships November 7-14, 2015 in Toronto, Ontario.

Team Sigurdson consists of Skip Bob Sigurdson, Third Erika Sigurdson, Second Al Purdy, and Lead Lindsay Baldock. Team Sigurdson earned their way to the playoffs with a 2-1 record in the round robin. They defeated Taylor McIntyre-Granite in a quarterfinal and Braeden Moskowy-West St Paul in a semifinal game to make their way to the final.

Sunday #2: Baker-Sigurdson Final in Chicken Chef Mixed - Ray Baker-Dauphin and his third Lisa Menard will have the chance to win a second Manitoba curling championship in the same year. The Manitoba Mixed Doubles Trials winners posed  7-4 win over defending champion Jared Kolomaya-Gimli in the Chicken Chef Mixed semi-final today in Gimli to advance to the provincial final against Bob Sigurdson-Granite. Sigurdson advanced with a 6-4 win over Braeden Moskowy-West St. Paul. The final game is scheduled for 5pm Sunday.

Sunday #1: Semi-finals Set at Chicken Chef Mixed in Gimli - Defending champion Jared Kolomaya-Gimli will play Ray Baker-Dauphin and Bob Sigurdson-Granite will play Braeden Moskowy-West St Paul in the Chicken Chef mixed semi-finals Sunday afternoon in Gimli. Sunday morning in the quarter-finals, Kolomaya beat Jeff Stewart-Gladstone (13-6); Baker defeated Sean Grassie-Deer Lodge (8-5); Sigurdson eliminated Taylor McIntyre-Granite (11-2); and Moskowy posted a 12-9 win over Joelle Brown-Assiniboine Memorial.

UPDATE: Tiebreaker Draws Required at Chicken Chef Mixed in Gimli - RAY BAKER - Dauphin defeated and COREY CHAMBERS - Deer Lodge 7-1 to advance to a quarterfinal game against former Champion Sean Grassie Sunday morning. Earlier BAKER defeated  JERRY CHUDLEY - Neepawa (9-2) and CHAMBERS defeated KELLY LAUBER - Pembina Curling Club (7-4) to advance to the tiebreaker final at the Chicken Chef Mixed in Gimli. The 9AM playoff quarterfinal matchups are:

SATURDAY: Tiebreaker Draws Required at Chicken Chef Mixed in Gimli - At the conclusion of round robn play at the Chicken Chef Mixed Championship in Gimli, eleven of the original sixteen teams are still in the chase for the title. Only former champion Sean Grassie-Deer Lodge scored a perfect 3-0 record in the preliminary round. GRassie and six others have advanced direct to the eight-team single knock-out playoff round. Four other teams are in a tiebreaker for the final position. positive records can advance to the playoffs.

FRIDAY: Top seed & defending champion Jared Kolomay-Gimli, Kelly Lauber-Pembina, and Bob Sigurdson-Granite lead their respective pools with a pair of wins on opening day of the CHicken Chef Manitoba Mixed Championship in Gimli. Sean Grassie-Deeer Lodge and Jerry Chudley-Neepawa share the lead in the fourth pool as they both won two games and will meet to determine first place in their third game, Saturday.

Second seed Braeden Moskowy-West St Paul won his opener but lost game #2 to Ray Baker-Dauphin and his tied with Baker at 1-1 behind Lauber Moskowy plays Lauber in their third round game.

The competition continues through the weekend with the teams competing in four round robin groups of four teams, followed by playoffs.

Chicken Chef Mixed Begins Friday in Gimli - The defending champion team of Jared Kolomaya (Kerri Einarson, Kyle Einarson, Jennifer Clark-Rouire) have been made the #1 seed in the Chicken CHef Provincial Mixed Championship March 27-29 in Gimli. The winner of the 2015 Chicken Chef Mixed Provincial Championship will have the opportunity to represent Manitoba at the 2016 Canadian Mixed Championships November 7-14, 2015 in Toronto, Ontario.

At the Canadian Mixed last November, Team Kolomaya finished with an overall record of 6 wins and 5 losses. They advanced to the Championship round with a preliminary round record of 4-2 but faltered with  1-3 record in the second round of play.
