FINAL UPDATE: Winkler Gains Home Team for 2015 Scotties

Kaileigh Strath and her Winkler team (Sabrina Neufeld, Calleen Friesen, D'Arcy Maywood and Shea Maywood) have won the Central region's A-Side Scotties berth with an 7-5 victory over Colleen Kilgallen-Roland, Sunday morning in La Salle. Strath scored deuces on the 6th and 8th end and stole the ninth to post the victory and earn the coveted berth as the home team in the provincial Scotties championship which will be played January 21-25, 2015. Kilgallen rebounded to defeat Cindy Wainikka-Morden for the secpnd Central Region berth.

Darcy Robertson-Fort Rouge and Joelle Brown-Assiniboine Memorial won the Winnipeg berths.Tiffany McLean-Dauphin and Kelly Wiwarchuk-Snow Lake won the singles berths available in Parkland and Norman.

In Westman,  Kozak and her team (Janelle Schwindt, Quinn Roberts and Caryn Edwards) from the Neepawa Curling Club won the first berth, Saturday. The second berth was won Sunday by Stacey Fordyce and her team (Kelsey Russill, Kristy Howard and Roz Ripley) from the Brandon Curling Club with a 7-5 victory over Kourtney Teale-Carberry.

Kerri Einarson and her team (Selena Kaatz, Liz Fyfe and Kristin MacCuish) from the East St Paul Curling Club won the Interlake Region berth.

Kozak Wins Westman Berth, Scotties Regional  Wrap Sunday - Tina Kozak and her Neepawa team won the first of two Scotties regionals berths in the Westman playoff in Deloraine. Kozak defeated Kourtney Teale-Carberry 10-1 in the A-Side berth game Saturday. Teale will  play in the B-Side berth game against the winner of a 10AM Sunday game between Brandon's Stacey Fordyce and Lois Fowler.

Regional playoffs will wrap up across the province Sunday. In Winnipeg, at Charleswood at 4PM, Joelle Brown-Assiniboine Memorial plays Darcy Robertson-Fort Rouge in the A-Side berth game. The loser drops to a B-Side berth game against the winner between Meghan Armit Elmwood and Beth Peterson-Fort Rouge. In the Central region at LaSalle, Kaileigh Strath-Winkler plays Colleen Kilgallen-Roland at 10AM in the A-Side berth game. The loser drops to a B-Side berth game at 3PM.

Scotties Regional Playoffs Scheduled - CurlManitoba is hosting the Scotties Regionals December 19-21, 2014 at Various Curling Clubs across Manitoba. Nine berths will be awarded for the 2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts presented by Monsanto which will take place at the Winkler Arena January 21-25, 2015. Draws can be found on www.curlmanitoba.org on the Bonspiel Planner.

Norman (Snow Lake) – 1 berth, 2 teams competing
Parkland (Dauphin) – 1 berth, 3 teams competing
