Broadcast Team Announced for SHAW TV's Presentation of MCT Finals

The Manitoba Curling Tour presented by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries and Shaw TV are pleased to announce that a pair of Canadian Curling Champions will be the broadcast team for the December 14 presentation of the Tour’s Men’s and Women’s final games. Cathy Gauthier and Maureen Bonar, members of the reigning Canadian Senior Women’s Champion team, will bring their broadcast experience and curling expertise to the two games which will determine the MCT’s 2014-15 champions as well as provide invitations to CurlManitoba’s provincial championships in 2015.

The MCT Championships will be played December 12-14 at Asssiniboine Memorial Curling Club with 5 draws Friday, four draws Saturday and three draws Sunday.

The Men’s final game will be played at 1pm, Sunday, December 14 and will be delay-cablecast at 5pm the same day on Shaw outlets across Manitoba, and on WCG-TV (Westman Communications Group) in western Manitoba. The Men’s game cablecast will be followed immediately by the province-wide cablecast of MCT Women’s game, which will begin live at Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club at 4:30pm.

Gauthier, who is a key member of the national TSN Season of Champions broadcast team, will serve as the lead broadcaster. In addition to playing second on the current Canadian Senior Women’s champion team, she is a 4-time Manitoba Scotties Champion (1992, 94 & 95 with Connie Laliberte and 2005 with Jennifer Jones); 3-time Canadian Champion (1992, 1995 and 2005); and a world silver (1995) and bronze (1992) medal winner.

Bonar, who joined the Shaw TV team for the Canad Inns Women’s Classic in 2014, will provide game analysis. In addition to playing third on the current Canadian Senior Women’s champion team, she is a 4-time Manitoba Scotties champion: as skip in 1993 & 1996, as second for Fowler in 2004, and as lead for Pattie Vande in 1983. In 1982, Bonar had skipped the Manitoba Junior champion team.

In addition to the Men’s and Women’s Champions (or highest finishing eligible team) earning invitations to the Safeway and Scotties provincial championships respectively, the Manitoba Curling Tour presented by  Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries will also identify four other Safeway berth invitation recipients and two additional Scotties berth invitation recipients.

In addition to Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, the MCT final game cablecasts will be sponsored by Asham Curling Supplies, CurlManitoba’s Curling for Life Endowment Fund, Best Western Plus Winnipeg West, Shaw TV, and ReMax professionals Gord & Kristi Green.
