Manitoba Teams Fall Short at Travellers Club Championship

Manitoba's teams both lost semi-final games at the Travellers Club Championship in Halifax. Tracy Andries and her Fort Rouge women's team lost 9-5 to Prince Edward Island. Tied 3-3 after three ends, Prince Edward Island scored a four on end #4 to establish the eventual margin of victory. Kerry Fedorcuk and his Petersfield men's team lost 5-2 to Saskatchewan.               

Manitoba Teams Into Playoffs at Travellers Club Championship - Kerry Fedorchuk and his Petersfield team scored a point on an extra end to defeat British Columbia 9-8 Thursday afternoon and finish the round robin portion of the Travellers Club Championship in Halifax with a 4-2 record. The 4-2 record places the Manitobans in second place in their pool behind 6-0 Alberta and ahead of three teams at 3-3. A loss to BC would have created a five-way tie at 3-3. In the other pool, Saskatchewan and ONtarion finished 1-2 with identical 5 win - 1 loss records.

In the Women's Division, Tracy Andries and her Fort Rouge team had to win their final game Thursday evening to solidify a playoff spot. Northwest Territories led at 5-0 with Manitoba in second place at 4-1. An 8-5 win Thursday evening over B.C. assured Manitoba of a playoff spot at 5-1. NWT lost to finish at 5-1 as well. In the other pool, Prince Edward Island and Ontario also both finished with 5-1 records.
