SECOND UPDATE: Warren Seeking Entries for August 25-30 Monsanto Sliding in Summer Spiel, Stick Spiel Added

UPDATED July 30: Entries are still required for both the competitive and recreational divisions of the Warren Monsanto Sliding in Summer bonspiel, August 25-30 according to organizing committee members bryan Preston and Tyson Langrell.  Call Preston (732-2464 or cell 461-1671) for information. Entry checks can be sent to Preston at Box 569, Warren, MB R0C 3E0. The deadline for entries is August 15th.

The competitive division teams will play thursday evening and will have games scheduled throughout the day Friday and on the weekend.  In the recreation division, teams will play in the evenings Tuesday to Friday and throughout the day on the weekend.

In addition to the competitive and recreational divisions, the bonspiel has also added a twelve team stick bonspiel (two-person teams) which will be played at the same time as the two regular divisions of the 'spiel. The 12 teams will compete in  four 3-team groups with the winners advancing to a playoff round. Entry fee is $80 per two-person team. Contact Ernie Oliver for details at 453-4991 or cell 981-8689.

Langrell says the bonspiel menu includes a pig roast Friday evening by Danny's Whole Hog and a Saturday Roast Beef dinner by Hitch N Post.

(JULY 22): Warren Curling Club is still seeking entries for their second annual Monsanto Sliding in Summer Bonspiel, August 25-30, 2009. Men`s, Women`s and Mixed teams are invited to compete is the 32-team Recreational or 16-team Competitive Division of the event. The entry fee is $500 in the competitive section and $160 in the recreational division. Six teams will qualify for the playoff round round inthe competitive section.   The bonspiel features an opportunity to play on championship calibre arena ice - developed under the watchful eye of respected ice technician Greg Ewasko. The event also includes a beer garden (Thursday to Sunday) with live entertainment Friday and Saturday.
