The World Curling Players' Association (WCPA) announced today that Pierre Charette (Buckingham, Que.), Scott Pfeifer (Edmonton, Alta.), Craig Savill (Ottawa, Ont.), Nolan Thiessen (Edmonton, Alta.), Sherry Middaugh (Coldwater, Ont.), Heather Rankin (Calgary, Alta.), Bill Todhunter (Appelton, Wisconsin) and Simon Strübin (Erlenbach, Switzerland) have each been elected to the organization's Board of Directors following the conclusion of its annual elections.

The new WCPA Board consists of eight elected members. As per the guidelines of the WCPA, the organization's Board of Directors must include a minimum of three Canadian men and two Canadian women representatives.  The Board must also feature one member from the United States along with one member from Europe.  The final board position is awarded to the candidate who receives the highest remaining vote total from the elections.

Charette, the WCPA interim president, received the highest amount of votes among all the candidates with Pfeifer and Savill rounding out the remaining Canadian men representative positions.

Middaugh, Rankin and Strübin were each acclaimed to the Board after running unopposed.

In the race for the United States representative, Todhunter narrowly defeated John Benton (St. Paul, Minnesota) by two votes.

The final position on the executive was awarded to Thiessen after he received the highest remaining vote total.

Later this month, the eight WCPA Board members will meet to elect a President, Treasurer, and Secretary.  The President, Treasurer, Secretary and the director with the most remaining votes will be elected to the Board for two years. The other four directors will be elected for one year.

As a member for the WCPA Board, individuals are responsible for heading up committees in a variety of areas including finance, sponsorship, events, marketing and technology.  The WCPA committees will be made up of volunteers not elected to the Board who wish to be involved in the direction on the World Curling Tour and the WCPA.
