Manitoba’s Minister of Sport, Hon. Eric Robinson, took a few minutes from his busy schedule May 7 to congratulate Manitoba’s provincial, Canadian and World Champions at a ceremony and reception in the Rotunda of the Legislative Building.

Eight of nine Manitoba champion teams were represented, with only Doug Armour’s Masters Men’s team unable to attend.

Minister Robinson congratulated the teams on their accomplishments in the past season and acknowledged the difficulty of winning a Manitoba title. He made special note of the pride all Manitoban’s have in the World Championship won by Jennifer Jones and her team and the World Bronze won by Kaitlyn Lawes and her team.

Jill Officer, on behalf of the Jones team, and Sarah Wazney, on behalf of the Lawes foursome, thanked the Minister on behalf of all of the curlers present. They extended the appreciation of Manitoba’s champions to the fans who are very supportive of Manitoba’s teams.
