Forrester Team Wins Gold At Optimist International U-18 Championship

Matching the accomlishment of Ron Westcott's Masters team earlier in the day, Hayden Forrester's Manitobans (Andrew Clapham, Brett McDonald, Cole Chandler) have won the Gold Medal at the Optimist International U-18 Championship in Edmonton. Two big ends,  a five on the second end and three on the sixth, set up the 9-6 final game win over Ontario. Meanwhile, MacKenzie Zacharias and her Manitoba team lost 6-4 to Newfoundland-Labrador in the B-Event Final.

Sunday Update #1: Forrester Team Plays for Gold At Optimist International U-18 Championship - Hayden Forrester's Manitobans (Andrew Clapham, Brett McDonald, Cole Chandler) have advanced to the final game of the Optimist International U-18 Championship in Edmonton by defeating Quebec 7-1 in the Sunday morning semifinal. In the other semifinal, Ontario defeated British Columbia by an identical 7-1 score. The Gold Medal game goes at 3pm (Manitoba time). Manitoba's Mackenzie Zacharias team defeated Saskatchewan 6-5 in their ranking game and will play Newfoundland-Labrador in the B-Event Final.

SATURDAY: Forrester Team In Championship Playoffs At Optimist International U-18 Championship - Hayden Forrester's Manitobans finished their round robin games with a 4-1 record, in first place in their pool, and have advanced to a semifinal game against Quebec at the Optimist International U-18 Championship in Edmonton. That game is set for Sunday morning. In the other semifinal, Ontario  plays British Columbia. Mackenzie Zacharias' women's team finished 2-3  and will play Saskatchewan in the B-Event, games to rank the 5th to 8th place teams. Alaska and Newfoundland/Labrador are the other two teams in the group. Japan, Ontario, Alberta and Quebec will play for the championship.

FRIDAY: Forrester Team 2-0 At Optimist International U-18 Championship - Hayden Forrester's Mantoba champions have won their first two games at the Optimist International U-18 Championship in Edmonton. Opening wins over Saskatchewan (6-2) and Alberta (8-4) have given the Manitobans aa good start in the event. They have games yet to play against teams from Washington, New York and British Columbia. Meanwhile Mackenzie Zacharias' team opened with losses to Alberta (9-7) and Japan (4-3). THey hav yet to play teams from Maryland, BC, and Newfoundland/Labrador.
