Jones Top Seed in Manitoba Scotties

Jennifer Jones has not played in the Manitoba Women's Championship since she won it in 2008. However, the four time Manitoba champion won the Canadian event 3 years in a row, allowing her team to compete as Team Canada, before losing the final a year ago to Amber Holland. And all that, plus their current #1 ranking on the Canadian Team Ranking, means Jones is seeded #1 for the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, presented by Monsanto, in Portage next week.
Seeded second is Cathy Overton-Clapham, who is playing with a re-built team this year. Third seed is Chelsea Carey, last year’s Manitoba finalist. Overton-Clapham and Carey are currently also 2 & 3 on the Canadian Team Ranking.
Behind the top 3 is a very strong field. #4 is Barb Spencer, #5 is Janet Harvey. And then come Jill Thurston, Michelle Montford, Darcy Robertson and Kim Link.
While it may not be a surprise if 2 of the top 3 are in the provincial final a week from Sunday, most will be surprised if any of them go undefeated.
