Birchard Wins Canola Junior Women's

DRAW 18: (FINAL) From a three ender on the opening end, Shannon Birchard and her St Vital team of Selena Kaatz, Kristin MacCuish and Mariah Mondor controlled the final game of the Canola Junior Women’s final game in Minnedosa. Alyssa Vandepoele and her Victoria team played a strong game the rest of the way but simply could never overcome that three.

Vandepoele won five must-win games in a row but couldn’t make it happen for the sixth time. Birchard posted a final score of 8-3 to win her trip to the national championship in February in Napanee, Ontario.

The Birchard team is coached by Lance Wadelius. At left in the photo is Roberta Galbraith, Manitoba Canola Growers.
