A saturday night game between the Goldeyes and Calgary Vipers at CanWest Global Park and a 12-8 Winnipeg win presented an ideal opportunity for the 2008 Tim Hortons Brier commmittee to talk to over 6000 sports fans.

Jeff Stoughton threw the ceremonial opening pitch, with his Manitoba champion 3rd Ryan Fry doing the catching. Stoughton and Fry were joined on the field by Rob Fowler, Steve Gould, Goldie and Goldeyes Manager Andrew Collier.

1995 World Champion Kerry Burtnyk and 1979 Brier Champion Barry Fry were also greeted warmly by the baseball crowd when they were introduced by PA Announcer Ron Arnst.

Team Stoughton visited with fans, signed autographs and posed for pictures with the Brier trophy on the concourse prior to the game.

For the record, Stoughton's opening pitch was a perfect strike (for a tall enough batter).
