Van Daele - Fowler Re-Match in Senior Women`s Final: Twice Manitoba Senior Women’s champion Linda Van Daele and her Brandon team will play defending champion Lois Fowler in the final of the CurlManitoba Senior Women’s championship at 1pm today at the Brandon Curling Club. It is a re-match of last year’s final game.
Fowler won this morning’s semi-final 6-4 over another former champion, Joyce McDougall. Fowler led 4-1 at the fifth end break but McDougall controlled the next few ends. She kept a lot of rocks in play scoring one on the sixth and stealing one on each of the seventh and eighth ends to tie.
Despite the steal, Fowler probably won the game on the eighth end when she negotiated an out-turn tapback the centre line through a port facing three in the four foot. The shot removed one McDougall stone and Fowler won a measure to give up a steal of just one.
That changed the momentum and the defending champion took two on the ninth then ran McDougall out of rocks coming home.

Van Daele Beats Fowler, Advances to Senior Women`s Final: Sandra Cowling and her Hamiota team were knocked out of the CurlManitoba Senior Women’s championship tonight in a 5-4 loss to former champion Joyce McDougall. Cowling trailed by two playing the ninth and had a shot for three but jammed – scored only two and came home tied 4-4 without the hammer. McDougall had a hit for the win with the luxury of counter in the side of the rings. She rolled out but that second rock gave her the 5-4 win.
McDougall will now play defending champion Lois Fowler in the Monday morning semi-final. Fowler lost on an extra end in the Page 1-1 playoff game to Linda Van Daele. Fowler had salvaged a 5-5 tie in the tenth with an angle double raise takeout of a Van Daele stone on the button but couldn’t steal the extra end.
Van Daele will play the winner in the 1pm final.
