Clegg Wins Golden Gals Final

Evelyn Clegg and her Minnedosa team of  Cheryl Orr, Marieann Mochnacz, and Linda Stinchcombe are the Golden Gals champions for 2010. The Clegg team beat Carol Wilson and her Virden team of Lynda Draper, Maxine Heritage, and Betty McSorely 8-1 in the Thursday final in Killarney.

Thursday Update #1: In a re-match of the A-Side final, Evelyn Clegg (Minnedosa) plays Carol WIlson (Virden) in the Thursday afternoon Golden Gals final game in Killarney. Wilson was an 11-2 winner Thursday morning over Norma Johnson (Dauphin) in the B-Final.

Wednesday Update #3: Norma Johnson-Dauphin (7-2 over Evelyn Sanders-Manitou) and Carol WIlson-Virden (11-2 over Diane Lambert-Morden) won the B-Side semi-finals Wednesday in the Golden Gals provincial event in Killarney. Johnson and Wilson will play inthe B-Final Thursday morning withthe winner playing Evelyn Clegg-Minnedosa in the A-B final at noon Thursday.

Wednesday Update #2: On the B-Side of the Golden Gals draw in Killarney, Evelyn Sanders (Manitoba) defeated A-Side winner Evelyn Clegg (Minnedosa) by a score of 8-5, setting up  an A-B Final Thursday afternoon. Other B-Side winners Wednesday morning were Norma Johnson (Dauphin) 10-2 over Boriskewich-Springfield, Carol Wilson (Virden) 10-1 over Toderian-Dauphin, and Diane Lambert (Morden) 9-5 over Smith-Heather.

The B-Side semifinals Wednesday afternoon have Johnson playing Sanders and Wilson playing Lambert with the B-Final set for Thursday morning.

Tuesday Update #2: Evelyn Clegg's Minnedosa team won the A-Side of the Golden Gals provincial championship with an 8-5 victory over Carol WIlson and her Virden team. On the B-Side of the draw, the wafternoon draw winners were Sanders-Manitou (8-3 over Klimpke-Stonewall), Toderan-Dauphin (9-2 over Johnston-Flin Flon), Boriskewich-Springfield (8-6 over Wyrchowny-Stonewall), and Smith-Heather (5-4 over Brethour-Hamiota).

Tuesday Update #1: Evelyn Clegg (Minnedosa), a 9-7 winner over Norma Johnson (Dauphin), and Carol WIlson (Virden), a 5-4 winner over Diane Lambert (Morden), have advanced to the A-Side final of the Golden Gals Championship in Killarney. The games is set for 4:30 Tuesday. On the B-Side in the aarly morning games, the results were Boriskewich (Springfield)  10-3 MacIver (St. Vital); Klimpke (Stonewall) 11-4 Oliver (Melita); I Johnston (Flin Flon) 5-4 Granger (Brandon); and Brethour  (Hamiota) 6-4 Whalen (Assiniboine) with the winners staying alive andf the losers being the first eliminated.

Monday Update: Three four-game draws were played Monday in the provincial Golden Gals championship underway in Killarney. Winners of two games were Evelyn Clegg (Minnedosa), Carol Wilson (Virden), Diane Lambert (Morden), and Norma Johnson (Dauphin). In the A-Side semi-finals, Clegg will play Johnson and Wilson will play Lambert.          Karen Toderian (Dauphin), Gwen Smith (Heather), Joyce Wyrchowny (Stonewall), and Evelyn Sanders (Manitou) won their opening games but lost on the late draw. First game losers included Marg Oliver (Melita), Diane MacIver (St. Vital), Diane Boriskewich (Springfield), Audrey Klimpke (Stonewall), Irene Johnston (Flin Flon), Marian Whalen (Assiniboine), Dorothy Granger (Brandon), and Kaye Brethour (Hamiota).

Losers on the morning draw Tuesday will be the first teams eliminated. The match-ups are MacIver-Boriskewich, Klimpke-Oliver, Granger-Johnston, and Whalen-Brethour.
