Malanchuk, Magnusson Qualify for Home-Ice Masters Mens (CORRECTED)

Three Winnipeg clubs will be represented at the Manitoba's Credit Unions Masters Men's Championship at the Fort Rouge Curling Club in mid-march. If there is any home-ice advantage, it could go to Fort Rouge teams skipped by Reg Malanchuk who was seeded #2 in the Winnipeg zones or Norm Magnusson (#3). Along with #1 Les Hooper-Heather, the top three seeds all went unbeaten through their four-team zone playoffs. Al Sharpe upset #4 seed Bob Turner, who was the finalist a year ago in Minnedosa, beating him twice to win his five-team zone undefeated. Harold Hamilton-Fort Garry lost an A-B final to Brian McKenzie-St Vital in zone 14. All zone playoffs  will be complete this week.

Former champion Doug Armour and his Souris team have qualified in a 2-team playoff in Zone 4 while Barry Sadler`s Portage team won Zone 5.

Previously qualified were another Fort Rouge team skipped by Clare DeBlonde and Brandon`s Lory Saban.

Zone 10: Les Hooper-Heather
Zone 11: Reg Malanchuk-Fort Rouge
Zone 12: Norm Magnusson-Fort Rouge
Zone 13: Al Sharpe-Heather
