UPDATE on Manitoba's Men's Super Leagues

(January 11) DEKALB SUPER LEAGUE: Ryan Hyde-Portage and Randy Neufeld-LaSalle moved into first place at the end of round-robin play in the DEKALB Super League, Monday evening in Morden. Hyde and Neufeld both won a pair of games to improve their records to 8-1.  Morris teams skipped by David Hamblin and Allan Gitzel both split their two games to finish the round robin in a tied for third place at 6-3.

Hyde defeated Tom Hyde-Portage 6-0 and Allan Gitzel-Morris 7-4 while Neufeld was a 9-3 winner over Rob Findlay-Carman and Don Spriggs-Portage 9-1. Neufeld scored a rare 7-ender in winning the game over Spriggs on the late draw in Morden. Gitzel split his games, winning his opener 6-4 over Spriggs. The two losses dropped Spriggs record to 4-5, out of the championship round. At 6-3 Gitzel finishes in the top four for playoff and will be joined by David Hamblin-Morris who also split his two games in Morden, losing 4-3 to Brian Pallister-Portage and defeating Rob Fleming-Morden 7-3.

All ten teams will compete in league playoffs January 23 in Portage. The second group of four in the playoff round will include Fleming, Pallister and Bob Bartley who all split their Morden matches along with Spriggs. Tom Hyde and Rob Findlay-Carman, who like Spiggs lost both Morden games, have the final two spots in the standings.

(January 11) PARKLAND SUPER LEAGUE: With one game to play January 25th, the leagueleaders solidified their rankings Monday evening. Greg Todoruk's Richardson Pioneer team (8-2 over Jim Todoruk-Oil Depot) improved to 7-1 with inactive Peter Prokopowich-Bayer Crop Science at 7-2. Ray Baker's CKDM team (8-5 over Mark Hadway-TJ Wyborn Trucking) and Larry Stratuliak-Rube's Auto (6-4 over Morley Bournes-Turko Fertilizer) both improved to 6-3, along with Butch Mouck's McMunn & Yates team who did not play this week. In this week's other game, Integra Tire (Russell Murray) defeated B&B Sales Ltd (Greg Momotiuk) 10-1.

In the final round of play, Team CKDM  could take second place over with a with over team Bayer Crop Science. Team Hadway needs to win to be in the playoffs and a loss would force a tie breaker with Jim Todoruk if he wins his last game of the year.
