Recent History May tell the Tale of the Scotties

After I posted the previous article yesterday, I got into a debate with myself - Barb Spencer is the #1 seed in the opinion  of the teams. Who am I to argue, I wondered. So I went back to the record book to do more research.  In championship season, experience is often the key to success and not necessarily experience throughout the season. There are skips who rise to the occasion in championship play. Because line-ups have changed this year from previous years, the following comparison is valid only to the extent that it reflects the success of the skip - but it is an interesting comparison none the less. The comparison is of the records and performance of the listed skips in this year's Scotties Tournament of Hearts - with their performance at each of the last two championships. ((DNQ means did not qualify - and in this instance that should be read to mean did not qualify as a skip.) If performance at the last two championships is an indicator of who will be there at the end again this year, then Barb Spencer is the winner, hands down. Her 15 wins - 3 losses record and a championship in the last two years have no close rivals
in this year's competition.
